Get Ready for More American Horror Story

American Horror Story has been given the green light for seasons eight and nine (in addition to the previously announced season seven).

FX Networks and Productions CEO, John Landgraf said:

“American Horror Story launched the modern limited series revolution and — as evidenced by the most recent installment, Roanoke — it remains as vital today as when Murder House stunned audiences six years ago.

Each new chapter is a cultural event, beloved for every new twist in imagery, style, cast and plot. We are thrilled that Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and the entire creative team will continue to deliver the groundbreaking, celebrated American Horror Story for years to come.”

Season seven premiers this spring but that’s about all we know.

The first American Horror Story installment, dubbed “Murder House”, premiered in October of 2011. Followed by “Asylum”, “Coven”, “Freak Show”, “Hotel” (with Lady Gaga), and “Roanoke”.

AHS: Roanoke premiered September 14th, 2016. In October, creator Ryan Murphy said he has plans to combine two former seasons’ themes for an upcoming “crossover season”.

“It’s not going to be next season, but we’re going to do a season that’s a crossover between ‘Murder House’ and ‘Coven,’ which is very bizarre,”

The “tricky planning” involved with making this crossover theme work prevented Murphy and co-creator Brad Falchuck from releasing it as their sixth season.Could this be our season seven?

To date, the American Horror Story franchise has won 15 Emmys and it’s most recent season “Roanoke” netted 10.9 million viewers.

In other news, Ryan Murphy will be working on two new American Crime Story ideas. One will be about the murder of Gianni Versace, the other about Hurricane Katrina which Murphy calls “a true crime story in America”.

“The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” was a massive success, receiving 22 Primetime Emmy nominations in 13 categories, winning nine. The show also won Best Miniseries at the Golden Globes and it’s star, Sarah Paulson, took home Best Actress – Miniseries.
