Olivia Rodrigo’s first single from Guts debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 nine weeks ago, and now ‘Vampire’ has returned to the top spot on the chart. It’s now tied with Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball’ for “the longest gap between No. 1 stays among songs in a single release cycle.” As for all No. 1 songs, regardless of release cycle, the only two with longer gaps are Chubby Checker’s “The Twist” and Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” All 12 tracks off Guts placed in the top 40, with “Bad Idea Right?” following “Vampire” at No. 7. Guts also became Rodrigo’s second No. 1 album this week (after her debut, Sour), launching with the equivalent of 302,000 albums sold in the United States and a total of nearly 100 million streams. That’s the fourth-largest opening week for any album in 2023.
