International Women’s Week is exactly as it sounds! An entire week to celebrate and learn about incredible women and their contributions to society and the world around us over the years. It also serves as a focused reminder of the progress we need and CAN make all over the world.

Consider this – Cis-gender women make up 50% of the global population:

  • Yet only 14 out of 195 countries have achieved 50% gender equality in government
  • In North America 37% of CEOs for Fortune 500 companies are women – this is an all-time high in history – however nearly all these women are white.
  • There are still 130 million girls worldwide that do not have access to education.

International Women’s Week puts a spotlight on how creating a more equitable world for girls is necessary to improving the world for us all.

In addition to putting women’s stories and experiences on a podium, it is also about debunking ideologies that have traditionally held women back and supporting women that are paving the way for new ones! A joint effort of men and women alike is necessary to inspire more respect, compassion and learning for the future generation of women and girls.
