Following both ‘Sex and the City’ films, there was talk about a third movie.  During an interview with Piers Morgan in 2017, Kim was asked if she would ever return as Samantha, “The answer was simply, ‘Thank you, but no, I’m good.’  The answer was always no and a respectful, firm, no,” Kim shared.

According to the official press release, “The new Max Original series is based on the book, Sex and the City, by Candice Bushnell and the original TV series created by Darren Star. The series will follow Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.”

Scheduled to begin production in late spring in New York, the series will include 10, half-hour episodes.  “I grew up with these characters, and I can’t wait to see how their story has evolved in this new chapter, with the honesty, poignancy, humor and the beloved city that has always defined them,” says Sarah Aubrey, head of original content for HBO Max.

While Sarah, Cynthia, and Kristin will serve as the executive producers, word is each will earn at least $1 million per episode.  Created by Darren Star and based on of the book of the same name (written by Candace Bushnell, released in 1997), the series premiered in 1998 on HBO, and aired for six seasons, coming to an end in 2004.
