Face it: MOST people have burnt SOMETHING in their lives.

You forget you’ve got something on the stove, You leave a candle burning too close to something (My grandmother had an EPIC one of these with a roll of Paper Towel that caught fire as a result…)  OR worse: You drunkenly put that pizza in the Oven and kinda… fell asleep.

Last night, an incident occurred at my place that resulted in the lovely “artist formerly known as an Ikea bowl” filled with what USED to be a delicious Spaghetti Squash and Chicken in a custom tomato sauce… becoming the Mess pictured above, and our house being filled with smoke.

Now: Our entire house REEKS of smoke.

We evacuated last night (Thanks Mom n Dad!), left all the windows open, fans on EVERYWHERE, bowls of vinegar, bowls of baking soda, and upon returning today: The house still smells awful, MAINLY in the kitchen.

So far: I’ve cleaned the entire kitchen with a Baking Soda/Dawn Dish soap and hot water solution recommended by multiple sites, Boiled a pot with cinnamon, cloves and allspice in Water for almost 3 hours… Nuked bowls full of Lemon Juice or vinegar to “fix” the microwave… Essential oils all over the place, MOSTLY LIME… (we keep a ton on hand, for all sorts of home based recipe stuff that actually works, like a WICKEDLY effective “poo pourri”… more on that another time.)

NOTHING. IS WORKING.

So: What’s YOUR tip?

ONLY Rule: No harsh chemicals, if they can be avoided. (Baby, 4 y/o and two dogs in the house, along with a Wife who’s got certain sensitivities).

TYIA.
