Annnnnnnnnnnd another one!

A California family of four were on their way home from a vacation in Hawaii when they were removed from a Delta airplane because they refused to give up a seat, that was being occupied by the couple’s 2-year old son AND was also purchased by the family.

Brittany Schear of Huntington Beach posted a video to YouTube days after the incident, in which we see her husband, Brian Schear arguing with several Delta flight attendants.

The story goes … the seat was originally purchased for Brian’s teenage son however, his soon took an earlier fight back and the seat was then used for his 2-year old son who was in a car seat.  According to the employee who was speaking to Brian, a carseat is NOT allowed and a child under the age of 2 has to be held by his / her parent.  According to their website, it says that, “For kids under the age of two, we recommend you purchase a seat on the aircraft and use an approved child safety seat.” #Hmm

In response to a tweet that was written by @b_king21 regarding the family that was forced to to leave, Delta Airlines replied: “We are sorry for the unfortunate experience our customers had with Delta, and we’ve reached out to them… to refund their travel and provide additional compensation. Delta’s goal is to always work with customers in… an attempt to find solutions to their travel issues. That did not happen in this case and we apologize.”

Brian was also told by a Delta employee that if he refuses to leave the airplane, it would become a ‘federal offence’ and that he and his wife could go to jail.  After going back and forth between Brian and Delta, Brian then offers to carry his youngest son on his lap during the plane ride home but a Delta representative refuses his request and says it’s not allowed.  The plane was overbooked and once Brian and his family left, all 4 seats were then filled with passengers who had tickets but not arranged seats.

Brittany posted this message along with the video on YouTube:

“Here is a video of Delta airlines booting myself, my wife and my 2 children ages 1 and 2 off delta flight 2222 April 23 from Maui to LAX. They oversold the flight and asked us to give up a seat we purchased for my older son that my younger son was sitting in. You will hear them lie to me numerous times to get my son out of the seat. The end result was we were all kicked off the flight. They then filled our 4 seats with 4 customers that had tickets but no seats. They oversold the flight. When will this all stop? It was midnight in Maui and we had to get a hotel and purchase new tickets the following day. email bootedbydelta@gmail.com”
